About Us

It has taken us ten years to restore Sensone, from a beautiful, but tumbledown Italian estate, to a wonderful nature retreat.

We started with the transformation of the main farmhouse and barn complex, but now are concentrating on the other property on our Estate - Santini.

With over 100 acres of productive Chestnut trees, we are gradually restoring the land to productivity, however, the woodland is also teeming with wild boar, porcupines, marmots, eagles and a host of other wildlife and we make every effort to make them welcome - rather than destroying their habitat!

It's been part of our therapy and it's been our mission!

Sensone is a working chestnut farm, the fruit being harvested in October each year and then ground to make the delicious chestnut flour. We are totally organic in our approach to farming and Sensone is energy neutral as we harness the solar power as well as our own managed wood stocks.

Sensone will never be a slick hotel venue, that is not what we are about, Sensone is a place where nature connects to modern living, a place where you will find that you do not have to sacrifice modern life to reconnect with the important things in life,a place that restores life balance.

Overall, It took us a while to decide which was "reality", the life that we were living in the UK, or our Tuscan dream.
